Featuring Alasdair Fraser, Natalie Haas, Jay Ungar, and Molly Mason, this lively celebration sees two acclaimed string duos taking the stage together for a night of fiddling fun!
With a career spanning thirty years, Alasdair Fraser has long been regarded as Scotland’s premier fiddle ambassador, earning a long list of awards, accolades, television credits, and feature performances on soundtracks for movies like Titanic and The Last of the Mohicans. Natalie Haas is redefining the role of the cello in traditional music. Together, the two have reunited the cello and fiddle as Scotland’s historical dance band of choice, displaying dazzling teamwork and a shared passion for improvising on the melody, swapping melodic and harmonic lines and trading rhythmic riffs to critical acclaim.
Musicians of enormous talent, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason draw their inspiration from a wide range of musical styles, including Appalachian, Cajun, Celtic, country, and swing. The pair achieved international acclaim when their award-winning recording of Jay’s composition “Ashokan Farewell” became the musical hallmark of Ken Burns’ PBS documentary The Civil War. Their enthusiasm for music and dance traditions, particularly their signature folk waltzes, have made them one of the most celebrated duos on the American acoustic music scene.
