An All-American salute to Spring with some of the best-known works of  the American canon.  Pianist Christopher Guzman plays Gershwin’s beloved Rhapsody in Blue – the quintessential American sound with jazz influences. We also feature Ives’ Unanswered Question, a classic example of American innovation, and Copland’s timeless American story as expressed in music (commissioned by another American icon: Martha Graham). We close the program with another tribute to American dance: Bernstein’s lively, cinematic piece bursting with energy.

The Unanswered Question —Ives

Appalachian Spring Suite—Copland

Rhapsody in Blue —Gershwin

On the Town: Three Dance Episodes—Bernstein
