An Evening With Jake Shimabukuro

Mount Baker Theatre 2015-16 Season Event

In his young career, ukulele wizard Jake Shimabukuro has already redefined a heretofore under-the-radar instrument, been declared a musical “hero” by Rolling Stone, wowed audiences on TV shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Conan, earned comparisons to Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis, and even played in front of the Queen of England.

The YouTube sensation shot to international superstardom when his rendition of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” went viral. With more than thirteen million views and counting, the video continues to convert new ukulele fans and Shimabukuro followers. Meanwhile, the fiercely talented musician has collaborated with an array of artists that includes Yo-Yo Ma, Jimmy Buffett, Bette Midler, Cyndi Lauper, Ziggy Marley, Michael McDonald, and Lyle Lovett, as well as orchestras around the world. The charismatic musician believes his humble instrument is one of peace, saying, “If everyone played the ukulele, the world would be a better place.”

“Jake is taking the instrument to a place that I can’t see anybody else catching up with.” – Eddie Vedder
