Silent Film Series with Live Organist Dennis James: Chaplin Triple Feature

Mount Baker Theatre 2015-16 Season Event

Guest organist and historic preservationist Dennis James is back to host the second-annual Silent Film Series, celebrating the centennial anniversary of three 1916 classics. A true devotee of the art, James diligently researches each film to provide period-authentic live music and sound effects on the mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ. Experience silent films the way they were meant to be seen!

Chaplin Triple Feature: Behind the Screen, The Rink, & The Pawnshop

Starring Charlie Chaplin

By 1916, just two years after appearing in his first motion picture, Charles Chaplin had become the most famous entertainer in the world. In these three short comedies, considered by historians to be among his best works, Chaplin manhandles props in a movie studio, showcases his formidable roller-skating skills, and famously “repairs” an alarm clock. Through it all, the slapstick icon displays his unparalleled ability to combine brilliant, spontaneous improvisation with precise timing.
