Big data plays an increasingly important role in our world, from the genomics revolution in human health to increasingly complex models that enable us to understand human impacts on the environment. The 2016 Fraser Lecture Series brings three world-class thinkers whose work has deeply impacted how humans interact with and understand large datasets. Dr. Lee Hood has been at the forefront of the application of technology to human health for decades; his latest biotechnology company, Arivale, aims to harness the power of deep data to improve human health. Dr. Kristin Tolle is the Director of the Data Science Initiative at Microsoft Research Outreach; her current focus is to engage with academics on data science. Martin Krzywinski is a world leader in data visualization who believes that “science not communicated is science not done.
