Volunteer
Getting started is easy, just fill out the Volunteer Application and we will notify you of the next volunteer training session. Trainings are generally two hours and are required before participation can begin. As a not-for-profit organization, volunteers are essential to the success of the Mount Baker Theatre. We are always looking for eager members of the community who have an interest in the arts and who want to become a part of the Mount Baker Theatre volunteer STARS program.

For those seeking to volunteer at the Theatre a variety of opportunities are available. Anyone, age 16 or older is welcome to participate in our volunteer program.
Frequent assistance is needed in these areas:
Ushering
- Assist patrons at performance with seating, coat check, ticket taking, and other pre- and post-show duties. (Training Required)
Postering
- Assist staff with poster & flyer distribution
Less frequent assistance is needed in these areas:
Archives Organization
- Inventory, restore, organize, and maintain permanent records, including papers, photos, historic artifacts; develop, maintain, and rotate displays of theatre photos and artifacts
Decorating
- Decorate theatre for holidays and special events
Maintenance
- Assist with general repairs and improvements
Marketing
- Assist marketing staff with activities to promote in-house productions
Membership PR
- Staff membership table in lobby during shows, assist staff to connect with community groups
Museum Renovation
- Assist with renovation of room; build and maintain physical display cases
Outreach
- Represent MBT at events outside theatre (Farmers Market booth, WWU events, etc.)
Photography & Video
- Occasional photography of theatre events
Production Support
- Assist with sets, transportation, and costumes for MBT in-house productions
Reception (Front Desk)
- Answer multi-line phone, greet visitors to office, assist staff with various office projects (requires commitment to work at least 2 hours on the same day each week)
Theatre Tours
- Lead tours of theatre as requested by public or for special events
Writing
- Assist staff with writing and editing stories and articles for publication in Spotlight playbill magazine and newsletters
