Black Violin

Friday | March 11, 2022 | 7:30PM

Venture into change as classical strings infused with hip-hop beats shatter stereotypes on- and off-stage.

With their unique blend of classical and hip-hop music, often described as “classical boom," Black Violin overcomes stereotypes and encourages people of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together to break down cultural barriers. Classically trained string players Wil B. (viola) and Kev Marcus (violin) are joined by DJ SPS and drummer Nat Stokes. Their work extends far beyond the stage, reaching more than 100,000 students throughout the year in mostly urban communities with free performances and hands-on engagement. “It’s a unique thing that brings people together who aren’t usually in the same room, and in the current climate, it’s good to bring people together.”
