Bellingham Symphony Orchestra Presents

BSO: Titans!

Elisa Barston, violin; Eric Han, cello; Xiaohui Yang, piano

Event has passed

Ludwig van Beethoven | Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C major, Op. 56

Gustav Mahler | Symphony No. 1 in D major

We wrap up another unforgettable season of live music with an exhilarating program of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. Beethoven’s piece is the only concerto he ever completed for more than one solo instrument, and the only one he wrote for cello. It’s been described as having extraordinary bravura and grandeur in the outer movements, and affecting expressiveness in the relatively brief slow movement. Mahler’s composition, based on the novel “ Titan,” by Jean Paul, is one of the earliest examples of a long, multi-movement symphony that tells a story or conveys a specific mood or message. With a large and complex orchestration and unusual instrumental combinations, this work marked a significant milestone in Mahler’s development as a composer and was the first of his to be performed publicly.

Come celebrate our season finale and get a sneak peek at our programming for the 2025/2026 season!
