MBT Lookout Sessions Presents
Hot Damn Scandal
Hot Damn Scandal began as a nebula of traveling musicians formed around the songs of founder Pete Irving. Rooted in the Northwest since 2013, the band has created a sound they call “Cabaret Americana,” a gritty blend of outlaw ballads, dirty jazz, shanty-rags, circus freakouts, string band funk, and whiskey-soaked love songs.
The band finds their songs under park benches and in forgotten alleyways, on the corner of Tom Waits and Gershwin. The result: a theatrical, orchestral, lyrical sound that swings, stomps, and seduces the audience to dance.
While the cast of characters stills rotates every so often, the most common crew includes Mickey Stylin on bass, Ani Banani on musical saw, Jimmy Austin on trombone, Jane Covert-Bowlds on tenor saxophone, Kris Staples-Weyrauch on electric guitar, and David Lofgren on drums — all anchored by Irving’s unmistakable voice and songwriting
Enjoy songs that will stop you in your tracks or make it impossible to sit still! With influences ranging from Roma swing to Klezmer, Motown to outlaw country, Hot Damn Scandal brings a show that will haunt your heart and have you on your feet dancing!
