An Evening with Leif Enger and Friends

Join us at beautiful Mount Baker Theatre for our premiere Whatcom READS event featuring author Leif Enger and his book, I Cheerfully Refuse.

Bushwick Book Club Northwest will open the event with original music inspired by the book, both composed and performed by local musicians. After a brief intermission, Leif Enger will talk about I Cheerfully Refuse and share insights into his writing process. Enger will answer pre-submitted audience questions and sign books at the event. We’ll also announce our 2028 Whatcom READS title.

The event is free and tickets are required. Whatcom READS is presented by all the public and academic libraries in Bellingham and Whatcom County and community partner Village Books. Celebrating its 19th season, the countywide program encourages everyone to read and discuss the same book.
