MBT's Movie Palace Series

Originally built as a grand movie palace, MBT proudly continues the tradition of showing films on the big screen.

Mount Baker Theatre, a beloved landmark in downtown Bellingham, first opened its doors in 1927 as one of Fox Studio’s many Fox West Coast Theatres, and remains a shining example of early twentieth-century movie palace architecture. Designed in the Moorish-Spanish Revival style by renowned architect Robert Reamer, MBT originally served as a luxurious venue for silent films and vaudeville performances, captivating audiences with its opulent decor and immersive cinematic experiences.

Today, that golden age of film lives on through our Movie Palace Series — a celebration of classic cinema screened in the historic splendor of MBT. From vintage favorites to timeless blockbusters, the series invites you to relive the magic of the silver screen just as it was experienced nearly a century ago, complete with rich history, architectural beauty, and the shared joy of moviegoing.
